  1. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

For Fourth of July, I celebrated in many different ways. First, at two o'clock, my friend's family came to our house. Their names are Liz (mom), Don (dad), Amelia (older sister), and Olivia (younger sister). We played pirates outside on my green and brown swing set and put Fourth of July decorations on the swing set to make it an Independence Day pirate ship. We pretended to be in the Pacific Ocean surrounded by sharks.

Our mom said to us, "Time to get ready to go swimming in Chloe's pool." (Chloe is my neighbor). We brought our Fourth of July tubes and used two tubes that they already had at their house. There, we also played pirates and sharks. We pretended that the sharks were evil, and each of our tubes had a special attack that it could do. Mine could shoot bombs because it was orange, my sister Tabby's shot sticky gum because it was pink, Amelia's shot flaming stars (on the american flag), and Olivia's shot fire out of the red parts of the flag.

When It was time to go home, we, shivering like mad, got out of the pool and dried off. When we got home, we changed into dry clothes and watched TV until dinner was ready. I made up a game called Who's afraid, in which one of us walked away and while they were away, we silently decided who would be afraid. We would yell, "Come back!" and when they came back, they would try to guess who is afraid. The person who is afraid is doing something different from the other two people.

After that, we had s'mores an watched the fireworks. They glistened in the night and created a wonderful sight! It was amazing!

    Sincerely,
    Royce

  2. @Royce,
What a fun-filled and creative July 4th you had! I am so impressed with your clever pool games, as well as Who's Afraid!

My family and I enjoyed a barbecue at home. We devoured juicy, grilled steaks accompanied by grilled veggies and a refreshing salad. I am very proud to say that most of the vegetables came from our own backyard garden.

After our dessert of ice cream with fresh fruit, we headed over to a local park to watch the fireworks display, which included a wonderful concert of patriotic music! The fireworks were some of the most dazzling and explosive ones I've ever seen!

    See you soon!

  3. Dear Mrs. Ranney and group,

I went to Walker Lake this weekend with my entire extended family. Walker is located in the Sierra Mountain Range, near June Lake and Yosemite.

I was not able to write this week because we were in the mountains, and there is no wireless reception while we are there. I spent time in our fishing boat and even caught my own German brown trout. The fishing was not as good as it has been in past years, but I was able to spend time with my cousin and my grandparents.

I even brought Mrs. Ranney back two trout for her to cook up in her kitchen this week.

    See you in the morning.

    Sincerely,
    Grace

  4. @Grace,

What a wonderful place Walker Lake must be! I'm looking forward to reading more about it.

I love the June Lake/Yosemite area of the Sierra Nevada. Hiking to altitudes over 10,000 feet and looking for beautiful wildflowers and two of my favorite activities in that area.

I'm glad you enjoyed time with your cousin and grandparents. What did you do besides fishing?

I can't wait to try the German brown trout! What is your favorite way to prepare it?

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

  5. Dear Mrs Ranney,
On fourth of July, I went to my Uncle's house for a barbecue. My cousin Sarah and her older sister were there. Adele who is also my cousin brought the best chocolate chip cookies and her famous salsa. I went swimming with my Uncle's dog Samantha it was so much fun. In the evening we went to Warner center park to meet my Grandma and watch the fireworks. It was amazing how beautiful they were and I loved how they lit up the sky. The colors were incredible and vibrant. We all had a great day.

    Sincerely,
    Sarah

  6. Dear Grace,

Walker Lake sounds like fun! Did you catch any other kind of fish? Did Bennett or Audrey catch fish? How many years have you and your family gone to Walker Lake? Fishing sounds like something so amazing because I haven't gone fishing before. Walker Lake sounds like a great place to have the 4th of July.

    Sincerely,
    Sarah
