Dear Scribes,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite summer time activities is hiking on various trails in the local mountains. When trekking up a tree-lined trail, I am usually with a close friend or family member. In Malibu Canyon near Tapia Park is a trail head that leads up to a crest where I can look out at the crystal blue waters of the Pacific. Trails like that one are the ones I enjoy most. Getting up high where there is a scenic view really gives me a thrill! This week I have already hiked twice in Malibu Creek State Park, and I can't wait to tramp on another nearby trail!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ranney
Dear Grace, Sarah and Royce (very soon!),
ReplyDeleteI am so delighted that you both enjoyed the first writing workshop yesterday! It was exciting to hear about all of the creative writing you will all be doing this summer on paper and blogging online. I know that I will be anticipating your newest creations every week and will blog to let you know how amazed I am at your progress.
You were both so well behaved up until the last 5 minutes when your uncontrollable giggling began. Try and think of this workshop like a classroom. You can even transform our dining room into a classroom and describe it in one of your writing samples.
See you all next week!
Sincerely,
Tami
Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite summer activities is going to art camp. At art class, I am able to create beautiful art pieces for my friends and family. My second favorite activity is that I love to go swimming. It is so refreshing that I wish I could go swimming every day. My third favorite activity is that I love being with you, my teacher, and learning new adjectives to add to my writing.
Every summer I go on a trip to Walker Lake. I also take a trip to Colorado. It is so fun because I get to spend time with my cousins and my nana and papa.
Best Wishes,
Grace
Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteI posses a beautiful, orange goldfish that I got from the fall festival in 2010. His name is Frick, and he used to have three brothers. Sadly, they all passed away, and now he lives alone in his fishbowl with dark and light blue pebbles. Usually, he just wanders around his mini tank and does not make a peep. However, whenever I shake my hand over the tank and pretend that I am feeding him, he immediately darts up to the top of his tank like a hypersonic torpedo, and thinks he is going to munch on a snack. He behaves fine all the time and does not cause mischief, so I could not wish for a better pet to have then Frick!
I am extraordinarily excited to attend your writing skills camp! I can't wait for the big day to come!
Sincerely,
Royce
@Grace,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're enjoying art camp. Because I was lucky enough to receive one, I can certainly tell that you have learned to create stunning art pieces!
I find swimming to be a most refreshing thing to do in summer! Do you prefer to swim in a pool or in the ocean?
I'd like to hear more about your summer trip to Walker Lake. Where is it located and what do you do there? Where in Colorado do you go? My favorite Colorado locale is Rocky Mountain National Park. Have you ever visited there?
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Cheers!
Mrs. Ranney
@Royce,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you've found our summer blog, and I really look forward to you joining our group!
What a great description of Frick you wrote! I can just picture him darting up to the top like a torpedo to retrieve a snack!
I'd love to hear more about what you enjoy doing during the summer!
See you very soon!
Mrs. Ranney
Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite summer activities is traveling to the beach on a hot day! Excitedly, my sister Tabby and I immediately sprint to the Pacific Ocean and splash around happily in the high waves. I usually go to Leo Carrillo beach to go boarding with my friends and to explore the big tide pools. We usually have a delightful turkey sandwich for lunch with a lot of deserts to go with it and a bag of Sun Chips. There is an extensive hiking trail leading to a rocky cave and my friends and I carry shovels and pails to dig for shells and rocks. I cannot wait for my family’s next trip to the beach!
Sincerely,
Royce
